Ashton VSG Pegasus

Country of Origin:  Dominican Republic
Wrapper:  Ecuador
Binder:  Dominican
Filler:  Dominican
Vitola:  Robusto
Length:  5 inches
Ring Gage:  54
Strength:  Full Bodied

The Ashton VSG has always been a popular well constructed, flavorful, full bodied smoke.  We now just have another smoke in which to enjoy these great cigars.  They have been a huge success since the first sizes were released in 1999.  They were blended exclusively for Ashton by Carlos Fuente Jr.  The wrapper for this cigar is grown in the Andres Mountains in Ecuador by the Oliva Tobacco Company.

The Pegasus will be a round VSG like the Eclipse.  The Pegasus has a gorgeous dark and oily wrapper.  Seamless construction with beautiful vein lines throughout.

This cigar has a perfect draw and burns evenly and smooth.  The flavors in this cigar are amazingly crisp and clean.  This is a flavorful and complex smoke.  I noticed earthy and roasted coffee notes.   In my opinion this cigar starts out as a medium bodied smoke then blooms in a delicious full bodied.

I have always enjoyed the Ashton VSG and now the Pegasus is more my size.

I'm not sure if this is accurate, but perhaps Ms. M can verify the data:

At the 2011 IPCPR, Ashton announced a new vitola to be added to its popular VSG (Virgin Sun Grown) line. Cigar enthusiasts long know Ashton as a landmark cigar line that has been around for over 12 years. This new cigar is a 5.5 x 54 toro vitola known as the "Pegasus".

The Pegasus becomes the third vitola in the Ashton line to be released as a standard parejo as opposed to a box-press. (The other being the 6 x 56 Wizard and the 6 x 52 Eclipse Tubo). These will come in boxes of 20. Release date is targeted for this Fall.
